Raj Passey

MA Sociology and Public Policy

The School of Sociology and Social Policy was very attractive because of its 4* RAE rating and the credentials of the University itself. With over 33,000 students, no matter how niche your interests are, or how diverse your background is, you’re bound to find like-minded people.

During my entire time with the School, from application to graduation, the communication from the School was absolutely brilliant. This got even better throughout the semesters and I cannot fault the School on any count.

Tina Basi

I was amongst the first graduates to complete an MA and a PhD in Gender Studies at the the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies, University of Leeds. The skills I developed communicating across disciplines has enabled me to stretch my thinking and analytical expertise across private, public, and third sector research as I now work as an applied ethnographer outside of academia.

I felt that the University offered fantastic facilities and the learning experience and support was excellent in both of the schools. I really enjoyed studying the PhD.

I have no doubts that the knowledge and experience I gathered during my time at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies was a fundamental step towards getting me in the professional track I chose and cherish. I am therefore forever indebted to the stimulating intellectual standard, engaging discussions and caring environment that I have always found in the Centre.

Mariya Stoilova

PhD

I chose the University of Leeds because of its reputation of intellectually stimulating environment with extensive learning and training opportunities. I found out that it offered much more than that: very welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, comprehensive support for international students, world-leading scholars and cutting-edge research, opportunities to build a strong portfolio for a career. I feel that my time at the University of Leeds has been very important both personally and professionally and has helped me a lot to move in the direction I was hoping.
