Undergrad research scholarships
Are you a second year student in the School of Education, Sociology and Social Policy, Politics and International Studies, or Law? Would you like to work as part of a research team during Summer 2010?
If so, the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law are piloting a new Undergraduate Research Scholarship Scheme.
The scheme will give successful second-year student applicants the chance to work with a research team in a supervised research environment on an individual research project relating to their degree subject and interests.
This is an opportunity that would develop your academic potential, and could transform your degree and future as a Leeds graduate.
There will be four scholarships available: one in each of the schools. You are not limited to only applying for the scholarship available in the school you attend.
The placement in Centre for Criminal Justice Studies (Law) will include undertaking a variety of research tasks including data collection, shadowing researchers and visits to criminal justice agencies.
Development Policy in the Recession (POLIS) involves reviewing aid trends from selected EU states and analysing NGO reports to produce short country briefing papers for the supervisor.
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) (Education) will involve classroom observations, teacher interviews, analysis of questionnaire responses and a literature search.
Comparing Disability Policies in European Countries (SSP) will give you experience of a leading international research network that influences policy decisions at a high level.
Successful applicants will receive a Scholarship of £300 per week. Projects will be undertaken during summer 2010 and run for four to six weeks.
