Hizer Mir – Steph Curry's Game Winning Shot: An Investigation of the Religious/Secular Divide

Basing itself on "the shot heard around the world", this seminar will be an investigation of the religious/secular divide.

Drawing upon the work of Nongbri, Asad and Dubuisson, it will be argued that the category "religion" has limited applicability outside of a certain time and space. The implication of this line of thought is that secularism also cannot be applied outside a certain time and space. Following Sayyid, this seminar will use the concept of language to replace the concept of religion. It is through this shift in perspective that it is hoped that Curry's actions can be better analysed and accounted for.
