UK Disability History Month 2017: University of Leeds Launch Event

We would like to invite you to our UK Disability History Month 2017 launch event.

Introduced by Emeritus Professor Colin Barnes, the School of Sociology and Social Policy and the Centre for Disability Studies are hosting a UK Disability History Month 2017 launch event, a screening of 'Defiant Lives: The Rise and Triumph of the Disability Rights Movement'.

Defiant Lives is the previously untold story of how the disability rights movement in the United States, Britain and Australia literally changed the world we live in. The film features interviews with more than 30 of the leading activists of the past 40 years, plus more than 600 pieces of archival footage and photographs sourced from around the globe. Professor Barnes features heavily in the film, and will be able to share his unique experiences and insights.
