Hello from Leeds
Thank you for accepting our offer to study with us at the School of Sociology and Social Policy.
We hope you are looking forward to coming to Leeds, but if you are still deciding, take a look on this page to explore what you have to look forward to.
In the meantime you can always email us with any questions: email@example.com (include #helloLeeds in the subject)
Studying at the Univeristy of Leeds means you will be only 10 minutes away from Leeds city centre where you will find plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and clubs. You will also be well-connected to the rest of the UK, with London only 2 hours away by train. Being in Yorkshire means you will also have plenty of opportunity to escape the city and explore the countryside.
The Language Zone
You don't have to be studying languages to take advantage of the language materials on offer at the University of Leeds. The Language Zone offers resources covering more than 45 languages and gives you the opportunity to learn and practice foreign languages with native speakers via one-to-one language exchanges and informal classes via language groups.
The Edge is the University of Leeds' on-campus gym where members have access to an 8-lane swimming pool, sauna, steam room, 220+ exercise classes each week, a climbing wall, squash courts and plenty more.
Gain work experience
You can gain experience in the workplace through volunteering or part time work.
Leeds for Life advertises various volunteering opportunities within the community for you to get involved in, offering a great way to gain some experience and do something different outside of your studies.
Clubs and societies
Leeds University Union has hundreds of clubs and societies to get involved in from Ultimate Frisbee to Skydiving; Spoken Word to Crypto-currency and Sign Language and Disability Action. Whether you want to try something just for fun, or want to get involved with a club related to your studies, there is plenty on offer.
Before you start your studies we recommend taking a look at all the funding and scholarships available to you. You may be eligible for a postgraduate loan or scholarship.
Take another look at your course and explore how you may be able to tailor your course with optional modules.
"My four years in Leeds have been truly incredible. I now consider this city to be my home, and I plan to work and live here after my graduation. There is not one part of my university life that I would change. I’d describe the University of Leeds as diverse, inclusive and exciting, and I would recommend it to anyone."
