Student power: A social movements analysis of student protest in English universities between 1965-1973

Using documentary sources and oral histories, I aim to reconstruct and analyse the English student movement. I suggest the peculiarities of the English movement give rise to the need to discuss and investigate the events of 1965-1973 in new ways.

My work will test the fit of New social movement theory as a means for explaining the student movement, in order to address whether social movement theoretical synthesises are needed in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the English student movement.
