Dr Joseph Hall

Research Fellow in Living Gender in Diverse Times

I joined the School in April 2018 to work on the ESRC-funded project Living Gender in Diverse Times with Professor Sally Hines, Dr Kim Allen, Dr Sharon Elley and Dr Karen Cuthbert.

This interdisciplinary research explores young people’s understandings, experiences and practices of gender in contemporary UK as this intersects with sexualities, class, race and age in spaces of families, intimate relationships, peer groups, schools, employment, leisure, media, and online.

Research Interests

Research interests include geographical explorations of:

  • Children, childhood and youth
  • Gender and sexualities (including intersections with other social/biosocial identities)
  • Education (particularly ‘inclusive education’) and schooling
