Ms Suzanne Hallam
Deputy Head of School
I really enjoy working within the School and at present I am Deputy Head of School. In this role I contribute to the management of the School. I am also Programme Leader for the BA Social Science programme.
I enjoy working in partnership with staff and students to enhance the student experience and to ensure that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
I am interested in issues surrounding widening participation in higher education, for example, in relation to student retention and the educational experiences of people that have experienced public care as children. In addition, I am interested in social and political theory, in particular, democratic theory.
I teach on the module Understanding Social Welfare as part of BA Social Science programme and also teach on the UG Level module Sociological Analysis of Contemporary Society. I am also fortunate to hold one of the University of Leeds Student Education Fellowships and I am using this to embed employability within all our programmes.
