Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Carol Marie Webster works internationally as a professional dance artist and cultural activist. She is currently a PhD student at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Leeds. Carol Marie is interested in performances of gender, religion, race, and disability in twenty-first century western and westernizing societies. Her current research focus include dance and performance in African Diasporic religious expression, post-colonial gender performance in the Caribbean, disability and world making in Jamaica, performative religiosity of contemporary western societies, and performances of ‘race’ and ‘racing’ in western cultures.
Teaching
Carol Marie currently teaches on the modules Gender, Race and Culture in the School of Sociology and Social Policy and Children in the Digital Age in the School of Education.
