Feminist Knowledge Production: the history and politics of West Yorkshire consciousness-raising groups
I am currently researching West Yorkshire women's experiences of participating in the women's liberation movement during the 1970s and 1980s, with a particular focus on consciousness-raising groups.
Based on data from in-depth biographical interviews, I am exploring how women narrate their feminist consciousness formation in terms of their encounters with particular ideas, texts, organisations, and places.
I am spending January to March 2008 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I will be working on my thesis under the guidance of Professor Myra Marx Ferree. This exchange was arranged through the World Universities Network Research Mobility Programme.
